Bristol Rovers boss Joey Barton is close to sealing a double deal that would see Aaron Collins and Harvey Saunders arrive at the Memorial Stadium, according to Bristol Live.

The pair are out of contract this summer and although Forest Green have offered Collins a new deal, it appears he is ready to move on after two years at the New Lawn.

Collins is a skilled forward and has put in a number of excellent performances during his time with the Green Devils. The 24-year-old netted 11 goals last season in Gloucestershire and also had seven assists.

His versatility, being able to play anywhere across the front line as well as either a false nine or number 10, will be an attractive prospect for Barton as he looks to rebuild a side capable of winning promotion.

Another player heading to Bristol is former Fleetwood man Harvey Saunders who was on loan at Hartlepool last season. The 23-year-old was released by the Cod Army at the end of last season and could link up with Sam Finey and Paul Coutts after both players joined the Gas earlier this summer.

Barton is thought to see a lot of potential in Saunders and he could be used as a good option for a club that lacked attacking threat last season.

Rovers only netted 40 goals in 46 matches during the 2020/21 League One campaign in which they finished bottom so adding forwards to the side this summer is a priority.

The Gas have already signed five players this offseason with the previously mentioned Finey and Coutts being joined by Mark Hughes, Nick Anderton and Connor Taylor.
