Walsall are reportedly interested in signing Halifax Town midfielder Jack Earing when his contract ends at the end of the month.

The 22-year-old has impressed during his two years at The Shay, netting eight goals in 34 matches during the 2020/21 campaign.

The former Bolton youth graduate, who made only a single appearance during his time with the Trotters, has been attracting interest from a number of clubs in the EFL but, according to the Express & Star, Walsall are hoping to win the race for his signature.

The club have had ongoing negotiations with the midfielder and will be looking to make him their fourth signing of the summer.

So far, there have been a number of changes at the Bescot with Saddlers chairman Leigh Pomlett determined to put a poor 2020/21 behind them.

Jamie Fullarton has come in as technical director and the club also have a new head coach in Matt Taylor. This new structure should help the West Midlands outfit produce better results on the pitch following a difficult few years.

They have certainly made a positive start to the transfer window, adding Conor Wilkinson, Joss Labadie and Manny Monthe to the squad already.
