Swindon are targeting the signing of 25-year-old Carlisle striker Hallam Hope.

Hope, who has impressed in his two years at Carlisle, is said to be a transfer target of Swindon Town boss Richie Wellens. Indeed, Wellens seems keen on a number of Carlisle United players, with Jamie Devitt linked with a move to the County Ground while former Cumbrian, Jerry Yates, also on his radar.

Hope notched 17 goals in 45 games for Carlisle during the 2018/19 season and could prove pivotal in Wellens’ aims to return Swindon to League One.

This news follows comments from Hope’s agent just a few days ago. United director David Holdsworth said:

“Hallam Hope wants to play at the highest level and his agent has expressed that to me.

“While Hallam hasn’t asked for a transfer, and he knows completely that he’s part of our club, we’re just concentrating on him returning to us in pre-season.”

“I like him as a player and a person, but every player does have a value and I’ll do everything in my power to look after this football club.

“That’s why we need to receive a bid which fits before we would even consider allowing him to discuss that option.

“Until that happens Hallam is our player. I know he’s fine with that because we like him and he likes us. ”

Hope has also had stints at Northampton, Bury and Sheffield Wednesday where he notched 36 league goals in 175 games.
