Swindon Town are hoping to boost their chances of remaining in League One with the signing of Jordy Hiwula from Portsmouth and Joe Day from Cardiff.
Both could be permanent signings with the Pompey man only on a short-term deal while Day is out of favour with Bluebirds, but they would come as welcome additions to John Sheridan’s struggling outfit.
Hiwula has been largely on the periphery at Fratton Park since signing late this summer and has only featured a couple of times for Kenny Jackett’s side so far.
According to Alan Nixon, Swindon have made inquiries about the player while they also want to land Joe Day who enjoyed a very impressive stint with Newport County prior to his move to Cardiff.

Hiwula netted 17 times in 61 appearances during his time with Coventry City and Swindon will be hoping they can return him to the form that saw him impress while under the guidance of Mark Robins.
Day has only made one league appearance since joining Cardiff City in 2019 but is highly thought of as a keeper after starring at Newport County while also impressing while on loan at AFW Wimbledon.
Swindon sit 23rd in League One having the second-worst defensive record in the third-tier. They have already admitted four or five signings will be needed during this transfer window.
The Robins are approaching a really tough run of fixtures that will see them face Ipswich, Doncaster, Charlton, Plymouth and Hull in their next five games.
