Sunderland are eyeing up a move for Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts, according to reports.

The League One club have made a good start to their 2020/21 campaign but are looking to strengthen with a loan deal for the 20-year-old.

Sunderland have held a long-term interest in the youngster but will face stiff competition to bring him to the Stadium of Light, according to the Northern Echo.

Leeds have also had enquires for the player from Swindon Town, Hull City and Huddersfield Town but Phil Parkinson remains hopeful of getting a deal over the line.

EFL clubs are still allowed to conduct business until 16 October even though the Premier League transfer window shut yesterday.

The Black Cats are still in the market for at least a couple more players before that date and Gotts is certainly a player they want to add to the squad.

The versatile midfielder who can also play wing-back made two appearances for Leeds first team last season as the Whites won promotion to the top flight.

Sunderland are in action this evening in the EFL Trophy when they host Carlisle United at the Stadium of Light.
