Sunderland are close to agreeing a fee for Plymouth striker Freddie Ladapo.
Ladapo scored scored 19 goals in all competitions for recently relegated Argyle and Sunderland remain keen on finding a regular goalscorer to help them achieve their promotion target. It is thought Sunderland are close to agreeing a fee of £500,000 with the Green Army for the 26-year-old’s services.

According to Plymouth Live, Portsmouth are also thought to be interested in Ladapo, with both Pompey and the Black Cats having bids rejected in January. Ladapo has one year left on his contract and this fee ensures the Pilgrims can get cash for his services.
As well as Portsmouth and Sunderland, Brentford and several Scottish sides are said to be interested in the striker. Ladapo is, however, a player that has received mixed reviews.
He flopped during his loan spells at Oldham Athleitc and Southend, with Plymouth his first good run of form. Indeed, Pilgrims fans see him as somewhat inconsistent.
That being said, his scoring record last season was incredibly impressive for a side that was relegated from League One. One this is for sure, Sunderland desperately need a striker and Ladapo has shown he knows where the net is.
