Stevenage are one of a number of clubs trying to sign Kings Lynn hotshot Adam Marriott.

The League Two strugglers have found scoring goals exceptionally difficult this season having netted just 15 times in 25 matches in Division Four.

This has seen them drop to 23rd place, just above the EFL’s bottom club Morecambe. Graham Westley has already brought in a winger Joe Leesley from non-league Harrogate on loan and is looking to raid Kings Lynn for their star forward.

Marriot has been in the form of his life, scoring 25 goals in 23 games, the highest amount in the top six tiers of English Football and, according to Football Insider, Stevenage are making a strong play to sign the 28-year-old.

He started his career at Norwich and has had spells with Cambridge and Lincoln while also spending time with Stevenage themselves in the past.

Boro are in desperate need of a goal scorer and, although there are no guarantees when signing players from non-league football, Marriott’s record this season is hard to ignore.

Stevenage are already on their third manager of the season with Graham Westley’s return following stints under both Dino Maamria and Mark Sampson.

Boro take on Port Vale and Oldham in the next two games and will be hoping to build on a hard-fought draw against Colchester United at the weekend.
