Stevenage are looking to make a double swoop in the transfer market as they target the signings of both Chris Stokes and Dean Parrett, D3D4 Football understands.
Dino Maamria is hoping to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season by bringing in former Bury full-back Chris Stokes and Gillingham midfielder Dean Parrett according to sources close to the club.
Stokes was part of the Bury squad that won promotion via the automatics last season and is an experienced player at League Two level.
He made 37 appearances in the fourth tier in 2018-19, scoring four goals and was considered a solid player for Ryan Lowe’s Shakers.
Stevenage, who are speaking to a number of targets, hope Stokes will sign at Broadhall Way.
They are also trying to bring Gillingham midfielder Dean Parrett to the club with the former Spurs youth graduate having previously played for Boro between 2013 and 2016.
Parrett is thought to be available after the Gills sign both Matt Willock and Ousseynou Cisse who play in his position.
Last season he made 27 League One appearances for Steve Lovell’s side, scoring once and bagging five assists but with playing time likely to be limited next season the player could be tempted to drop down a division for more game time.
Boro are also looking at former Oldham playmaker Jose Baxter as Dino Maamria cranks up his recruitment drive for the 2019-20 campaign.
