Stevenage look set to announce the signing of Forest Green midfielder Paul Digby, D3D4 Football understands.
The Sheffield-born central midfielder is close to becoming Stevenage’s latest new addition with the player looking to become an establushed star in 2019-20.
Digby started his career playing for Barnsley making nine Championship appearances for the club in a three year stint before the Tykes suffered relegation.
He was sent out on loan to Ipswich Town in 2015-16 before signing a permanent deal with the Tractor Boys a year later.
During his time at Portman Road the 24-year-old struggled to get regular minutes and was signed by League Two Mansfield Town for the 2017-18 campaign.
He was picked up by Forest Green last summer and made 37 appearances in the league for them, helping the Gloucestershire outfit reach the League Two play-offs.
Dino Maamria is hoping to land a central midfielder during this window and a deal is close to allow the 6ft 4” Digby to join up with the Boro squad for pre-season, according to D3D4 sources.
He scored one goal for the Green Devils last season while winning 63% of his defensive challenges and would offer some strength and grit in the middle of the park for Stevenage.
