It is that time in the season when owners, fans and indeed managers start to take stock of how they have started the new campaign. Reece Donnelly our resident Stevenage fan, gives you his take on the start the Boro have made in League Two…
Overview
I would say we have had a great start. 18 points from the 10 played is something to be proud of as well as being 6th in the league. I think we’ve shown a lot of potential so far; if the team can stay fit and Darren can play the right team I think we will go on to have a great season if we continue how we are. With so much still to come, it is looking like it could be a prosperous season but there is still stuff to work on and that needs to be emphasised. But pretty good
Who has been our best player?
Hard to look far away from Danny Newton . Man is a machine and never stops working. Scored some good goals and important ones. Looks a good signing from depths of non-league and really good guy. Arguably most pleasant surprise
Who has been the most surprising player so far?
Fraser Franks has been a massively imposing figure in our back line, seems to have ironed out mistakes that cost him and the team previously. Also Joe Fryer who has got better as games have gone by, some spectacular saves and very calm under pressure.
How have we performed against my expectations?
I am an optimist and predicted a good season was in store but we have impressed me in terms of general performance and exceeded what i expected. Some fans have been overreacting at different times but we need reminding how close the league is and with 18 points in the bag we have something good and strong to build on. Massive game on Saturday for us. Good time to be a fan right now. Certainly a smile on my face
