Southend United are one of several sides chasing Peterborough United winger Isaac Buckley-Ricketts.
The former Manchester City trainee has been attracting the attention of a number of teams but Southend are confirmed to have made contact with the club about the availability of the player, according to reports.
Buckley-Ricketts joined the Posh last summer but failed to break into the first team and was transfer listed by new boss Darren Ferguson.
The 21-year-old has blistering pace but is still very much a raw talent. However, Kevin Bond could be the perfect man to coach a young player like Buckley-Ricketts.
The Manchester-born winger joined the City academy as a teenager and has represented England at U18, U19 and U20 level.
He has had loan spells with Dutch side FC Twente and League One Oxford, making his debut in Pep Clotet’s final game as United manager before the Spaniard was dismissed.
Both Carlisle and Colchester have also expressed an interest in the winger but no club has yet made a formal offer for the player.
Whoever does sign the 21-year-old should be prepared to give him some much needed game time. He clearly has potential but a run of competitive football could see him develop into a very effective player in the lower leagues.
