Shrewsbury Town are interested in signing Peterborough goalkeeper Adam Chapman as Sam Ricketts looks for a regular number one for 2019-20.

The Shropshire club are hoping they can find a more reliable ‘keeper after they struggled to replace Dean Henderson last season.

Steve Arnold ended the campaign as the regular goalkeeper for Salop but he has since left to join Northampton Town and it appears that Aaron Chapman is the man they are targeting as a replacement, according to reports.

Chapman was excellent in the Accrington side that got promoted to League One in 2017-18 and his efforts earned him a move to Peterborough.

He started the season well for the Posh but lost his place to Conor O’Malley and has slipped further down the pecking order with the signing of Christy Pym from Exeter.

Shrewsbury face a tough battle to sign the stopper with Bristol Rovers also chasing the player’s signature.

Graham Coughlan has need in net after seeing last season’s star loanee Jack Bonham join Gillingham on a free transfer from Brentford.

The keeper was excellent at the Memorial Ground in 2018-19 making huge improvements on his game from the previous campaign where he was on loan at Carlisle. He will be difficult to replace but, in Aaron Chapman, Rovers clearly feel they have found their man although Peterborough confirmed that no offers have been formally received as of yet.
