Shrewsbury Town have rejected a series of bids from Peterborough United for their star man Oliver Norburn.
Norburn is said to be on of Darren Ferguson’s top targets this summer, according to Football Insider, but Posh have had two bids of around £400,000 knocked back by Salop. Peterborough United have been busy so far this summer, having signed six new players already.
Norburn was crucial for the Shrews last season, as the midfielder chipped in with 11 goals and five assists and could be crucial to the Shropshire side if they are to build on the disappointing time they had during the 2018/19 season.
Indeed, Salop are very much keen on holding onto their star-player but will have to persuade the midfielder that they are a club looking to progress if they are to stand a chance of preventing him leaving. Cambridgeshire may not be the only possible destination, as Championship clubs are also monitoring the player with at least two reportedly considering a bid.
Norburn has impressed at both Tranmere and Shrewsbury and may well have earned the right to test himself at a Championship club; Peterborough will certainly be selling themselves as a second tier side in waiting.
Shrewsbury will be keen to reignite the promotion aspirations harboured following a superb 2017-18 but keeping hold of their best players is a must if that hope is to become a reality.
