Sheffield Wednesday are hoping to land the loan signing of Nice forward Deji Sotona but face competition from Derby, according to reports.
The 19-year-old impressed scouts with his blistering pace and is seen by both clubs as a player who could make a big impact in League One.
Sotona was on loan with Brentford’s B team last season after making the move back to England in January in order to get some game time, something that was limited for the player in France.
Sotona started out at Manchester United but rejected a new three-year deal at Old Trafford in 2020 to explore an opportunity across the Channel with Ligue 1 side Nice.
He failed to make a first-team appearance for the side from the French Riviera and jumped at the chance to come back to England when Brentford gave him the chance last January.
According to Football Insider, the speedster has caught the attention of both Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County with both clubs expected to try and land the player on loan.
Sotona has played for the Republic of Ireland at youth level and was called up to the U20 side in March after some impressive displays for the Bees second team.

It is well documented that he was logged as the fastest player at Manchester United during his time with the Red Devils and this pace is one of the things both Sheffield Wednesday and Derby will be hoping to utilise.
