Joe Pigott is attracting interest from Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday.

The Yorkshire club is keen on adding a new striker to their ranks and believe a £250,000 bid could be enough to secure the 25-year old’s services, according to the Daily Mirror.

Pigott has scored 20 times in 58 league starts for the London club, including 15 last season, and has also been attracting interest from Reading, who are themselves lining up a £250,000 bid. Pigott has also played for Luton Town, Charlton, and Southend, as well as a handful of non-league clubs. His goals last season directly earned the Dons 19 points.

Speaking to HITC a couple of weeks ago, Wimbledon boss Wally Downes said:

“He is bound to be of interest to any club looking to sign a striker. But he is on a long, secure contract from last season. I imagine there will be lots of clubs interested in someone who has scored the goals he has scored – and the amount of goals that he has scored.”

His strong contractual situation at Wimbledon may mean that the London club value their prized striker at well above the reported £250,000; especially when they consider the value of strikers of a similar calibre – such as Freddie Ladapo who left Plymouth for £500,000.
