Rotherham United are close to signing three new players ahead of next week’s deadline.

United are keen on strengthening there squad ahead of a promotion push and, according to The Star, the Paul Warne wants a centre-half and two wingers.

In an interview, Mr Warne said he had been targeting Sheffield United defender Ben Heneghan:

“Heneghan was one of many centre-halves we looked at but I think I have got the one I want,”

Heneghan signed for Blackpool at the end of last week and Warne has now moved his sights elsewhere. The Millers’ manager also thinks he has secured the signing of a winger:

“We’re just dotting the ‘i’s and crossing the ‘t’s. I met him and liked him. He fits what I want. He’s got other offers.

“I probably don’t offer as much in wages as the other two teams who want him but I like to think we offer more than just money.

“I would like to think that by after the weekend I’ve got a permanent winger in, a permanent centre-half in and probably another winger coming in.”

A bid for a second winger has also been accepted:

“We need to see if we can agree terms with him and whether we fit with his ambitions. I’ll have to quickly meet him because I want to get him in the building as soon as possible.”

Rotherham next host Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night, before hosting Tranmere in League One on Saturday.
