Cambridge United have announced a new kit deal with Danish manufacturer Hummel that will break all previous records in the club’s history.

The U’s set to bring in a six-figure sum thanks to a new deal struck up with the firm that supply football kits to the likes of Rangers, Middlesbrough and the Danish National team to name a few.

The deal will last four-years starting in 2019-20 and will see Hummel supply kit to the first team, academy and development centres as well as the women’s team.

This will be good news as the side look to rebuild after a disappointing campaign in League Two and should bring in some much needed money.

Colin Calderwood replaced Joe Dunn following his dismissal and although the U’s avoided relegation they only finished six-points above the drop zone.

The kit deal comes off the back of news that the club have already sold over 1,300 season tickets for next season and will help boost the club coffers.

United’s COO Henry Comfort said: “After an extremely thorough tender process, we are pleased to be announcing the biggest commercial kit deal in the Football Club’s history with Hummel ahead of the start of the new season.

“Hummel are a resurgent, high quality, and on-trend brand whom Cambridge United are yet to have been associated with before. Therefore, it will be great to start this “Next Chapter” campaign alongside them, as we embark on a summer of change.

“Any football team’s kit forms a key part of a Club’s identity. In recognition of this, we wanted to ensure that our chosen partner could produce truly bespoke kits, in order to give our fans kits which are unique and consistent with Cambridge United’s history. We were delighted to agree upon this with Hummel.

“We have been incredibly impressed with their operation and service thus far, and are looking forward to partnering with a brand determined to achieve excellence across the range of kit worn by both our fans and players alike.”

Neil Burke, commercial director at Hummel, added: “We are extremely proud to have been chosen as the new Technical Partner. At Hummel we pride ourselves in doing things a little differently by adding that extra twist and a bit of character to all that we do. Over the next 4 years we will provide players, staff and most importantly the supporters with an exceptional range of products both on and off the field.”

The new kit will be launched on Friday 24 May.
