Portsmouth are closing in on a deal to bring ex-Swindon Town midfielder, Scott Twine, to Fratton Park, according to reports.
Twine enjoyed a mixed campaign in 2020/21, helping Newport into the automatic promotion spots in League Two before being recalled by the Robins only to see them relegated.
Danny Cowley is speaking with a number of targets but, according to The News, Twine is a player high on that list of potential signings and with good reason.
Twine really stood out while on loan at Rodney Parade where his penchant for a sensational strike saw him net seven goals in 22 appearances in all competitions before his form saw him recalled to the County Ground in January.
The 21-year-old was unable to help Swindon avoid the drop despite matching his Newport goal haul, with seven in 25 matches including a howitzer against Ipswich at Portman Road.

Twine is out of contract but if Portsmouth sign the youngster they will have to pay Swindon compensation due to his age.
There is expected to be some stiff competition, however, with Championship sides Barnsley, QPR, Luton and Brentford also linked to the midfielder.
Cowley has expressed his desire to see Tottenham loanee Harvey White return for another spell with the South Coast club as he looks to build a high energy, high skill line-up next season in League One.
