Oxford United and Fleetwood Town are interested in signing Portsmouth striker Ellis Harrison, according to reports.

The former Bristol Rovers hitman is being eyed up as a potential target by the U’s and Cod Army, who will both be hoping to mount a challenge for the play-off in 2021/22.

Harrison has a year remaining on his deal at Fratton Park, but could leave in search of a new stomping ground as the Cowleys look to rebuild the squad on the South Coast.

Oxford and Fleetwood are possible destinations for the 27-year-old, according to Hampshire Live, as Karl Robinson and Simon Grayson look to improve their attacking options.

Harrison has struggled for form over the last couple of season following an impressive stint with Bristol Rovers.

The Newport-born attacker hit 13 goals to help the Gas win promotion back to the Football League at the first time of asking in 2014-15 and followed this up with 27 league goals over the next three seasons before moving to Ipswich in 2018.

His time at Portman Road was short-lived as he netted just once in 17 appearances before being signed by Kenny Jackett at Fratton Park.

Harrison made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Blues during the 2020/21 campaign scoring six goals.
