Current Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has sent a message to new Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton as the former Yellows coach is set to take charge of the Imps.

Michael Appleton had a hugely successful three years at the Kassam Stadium before moving on to be assistant manager at Premier League  Leicester and Karl Robinson has wished him ‘all the luck in the world’ ahead of his new venture.

Oxford beat Lincoln six-nil of Saturday, the first time in the club’s history that the Yellows had netted six on the road in the EFL. Following the game, the U’s boss praise Appleton for the incredible work he had done in his time in charge of Oxford.

“I want to truly wish Michael all the luck in the world,” Robinson said after Saturday’s game.

“Everyone will be forever indebted for the hard work he put in at a time when maybe things weren’t great and he really put some stability into the club.

“He put great staff in that I’ve been able to inherit. I wish him luck from now on.”

Lincoln will be hoping Appleton can recreate the success he enjoyed at Oxford – a club who he got promoted from League Two while reaching two EFL Cup finals.

The Imps have lost five of their last seven games in the league winning just once in that run. The six-nil drubbing at the weekend was watched from the director’s box by Michael Appleton and will have no doubt given him much food for thought.

The 43-year-old manager will take charge of Lincoln for the first time when they take on Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on Friday night.
