MK Dons and Burton Albion are hoping to sign Dundalk midfielder Jordan Flores, according to reports.

The 24-year-old midfielder is in high demand with the League One clubs looking to pry him away from the League of Ireland Premier Division outfit, who are keen to retain the services of Flores.

MK Dons are heading into their first summer under boss Russel Martin and announced the return of Carlton Morris on loan from Norwich this week. They are hoping to add to their summer additions by signing Flores from the Irish champions.

Dundalk are keen to keep hold of the player but the interest from Burton and MK Dons may see him move back to England, according to Alan Nixon.

Flores previous played for Wigan Athletic, coming through their youth ranks and breaking into the first team in 2014. He was sent out on a series of loans to the likes of Blackpool, Chesterfield and Fylde.

Burton, under new boss Jake Buxton, are also interested in strengthening their side after seeing Scott Fraser and Liam Boyce leave this summer. They have already been active during the window signing Steven Lawless and Charles Vernam from Livingston and Grimsby respectively.

The new League One season is set to start on 12 September the EFL have confirmed but there is a lot left to decide with both Sheffield Wednesday, Wigan and Derby facing point deductions which could change the makeup of who is relegated from the Championship.

Currently is it Wigan, Charlton and Hull set to go down but this could change depending on the results of each club’s respective disciplinary hearings.
