Luton Town are reportedly interested in signing AFC Wimbledon defender Deji Oshilaja before the transfer window shuts on Thursday.

The centre-back who has also filled in a right-back is thought to be the Hatters number one target as they head into the final days of the window.

The 25-year-old is out of contract this summer and a move might make sense for both the player and the club.

With Wally Downes’ side looking down the barrel of relegation the club will have to weigh up whether it is worth keeping their most highly rated player or cash in while they can.

It was claimed recently that the club rejected two bids for the player already but with time running out it could be a case of AFC Wimbledon accepting an offer should it meet their valuation.

The defender was linked with both Bolton and Ipswich during the summer and has featured 28 times for the London club this season.

D3D4 Football’s view

Oshilaja is Wimbledon’s outstanding player this season and would be an excellent capture to the Hatters.

His numbers show him to be the top performer at Kingsmeadow and with his contract running out Luton may be able to get him for less than his true value.

During this season he has won the second most challenges of any Wimbledon player in League One (260) and has been consistently an excellent performer, popular with the Dons fans.

His leadership qualities have also been on show throughout a difficult campaign and it is our opinion that he would be an excellent capture for the Hatters though they may face competition for his signature.
