LEAGUE ONE PREVIEW & PREDICTIONS
Just the two midweek games but both have ramifications for the fight to avoid the drop into League Two, here goes….
AFC WIMBLEDON v FLEETWOOD TOWN
Joey Barton and his Cod Army make the long trip south to Kingsmeadow lying in mid-table. Their form would suggest their position is correct having gained twelve points from their last ten league games, drawing the last three. One bright spot however has been the form of striker Paddy Madden who is looking as if he’s in the mood to replicate his prolific form he showed in his time at Scunthorpe.
The Dons suffered a very damaging 4-1 home defeat by promotion chasing Barnsley at the weekend which has hurt their survival chances and I suspect the teams confidence too. One thing you will get from the Dons is fight but it’s wins that are required and Fleetwood are a decent side. I think Wally Downes and his men may have to settle for a point here.
PREDICTION SCORE DRAW
PLYMOUTH ARGYLE v WALSALL
I mentioned Argyle’s love affair with the month of January in my last preview tipping it to carry on and carry on it did with a fine victory over Coventry. They don’t seem to be over reliant on Freddie Lapado for goals either with Portuguese forward Ruben Lameiras taking most of the recent goal scoring plaudits (six in his last four games). They are going for a fourth successive league win and if they do achieve victory in this game they’ll move out of the drop zone to be replaced by Oxford. Their opponents, Walsall, awoke from their recent slumbers with a fine 3-0 victory at in form Gillingham to gain a first win in seven, easing their growing relegation worries but I can’t see the Saddlers halting the January Argyle juggernaut here.
