The EFL are presiding over yet another car crash as Macclesfield Town’s fixture with Crewe this weekend is yet to be confirmed as off.
The Silkmen players released a statement saying they would not play the match due to lack of pay and concerns about the health and well being of the squad.

Not only are they not being paid but the whole ordeal is having a hugely adverse effect on their mental health & well being🙁
I think everyone will support them in this action👊#Silkmen #CreweAlex pic.twitter.com/cMn2MN3bo6

There have been numerous incidents of the players and staff not receiving their wages going back to last season but owner, Amar Alkadhi gave assurances in the summer that those problems were in the past. This has proven not to be the case and the Macclesfield players have refused to train or play against Crewe this weekend.
In response, the EFL called an emergency meeting but appeared to be unable to find a solution or confirm whether the game would go ahead.
“While the EFL, who will continue to provide all available support, fully understands the reasons for the position adopted by the players and their current concerns, it must also ensure the integrity of the League is maintained,” a statement said.
“Therefore, the Club will be subject to a further misconduct charge under Regulation 31.2 for non-fulfilment of fixtures if Saturday’s match does not take place as scheduled.”
It’s late on Thursday and @EFL can’t even tell fans whether we should be buying match or train tickets for a game that’s taking place on Saturday afternoon. These clowns couldn’t run a bath, never mind a competition #CreweAlex https://t.co/XfTf6Gp1eT

Fans of both sides are still in the dark about whether the game will go ahead leading to a lot of frustration and anger, much of it thrust in the direction of the EFL who have shown they do not have a handle on the situation.
With the planned kick-off a little over 24 hours away, there is still no confirmation whether the fixture will take place.
