Ipswich Town are in a three-way battle to sign Kings Lynn’s up and coming star Sonny Carey, according to reports.

The 20-year-old impressed despite the Linnets struggling in the National League last season and his efforts have caught the eye of several EFL clubs.

Luton Town have already had a bid rejected by Kings Lynn for the youngster who netted six goals and assisted another two in 44 matches last season.

Ipswich are, according to The Sun, interested in adding the player to their ranks with a fee of £100,000 speculated despite Paul Cook’s preference for more experienced pros to try and build a promotion-winning side.

Carey is clearly a grounded individual and is not letting the speculation about his future turn his head.

“I just let all the noise in the background look after itself and I just focus on when I get on the pitch doing what the gaffer has told me to do and give 100% for the team,” Carey told the Eastern Daily Press.

“It’s good hearing the stuff but at the end of the day it is all talk and interest and that’s it until the end of the season and we will see what happens.”

Carey joined Kings Lynn from Wroxham where he scored 17 goals in 32 starts. When asked about the players future, Linnets club spokesman Mark Hearle refused to comment.

“It’s not club policy to comment on speculation concerning our players or any other players linked to King’s Lynn Town FC.”
