Grimsby Town are lining up a move for striker Matt Green after the player was released from his contract by Salford City D3D4 Football understands.
The 32-year-old only signed for Salford last December, securing a two-and-a-half-year-deal with the Ammies but is thought to be looking for a new challenge ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.
Grimsby Town are known to be on the hunt for strikers and have already spoken to Walsall about the possibility of bring Andy Cook back to Blundell Park.

Micheal Jolley’s side struggled to find the net last season and Matt Green will be seen as the perfect option.
The former Oxford United forward, who helped secure the U’s return to the EFL in 2010, scored four goals in 21 appearances while at Salford.
The Mariners have already spoken to the striker and will be encouraged following his release by their League Two rivals.
Grimsby are likely to be very active in the transfer market over the coming weeks after releasing six players and seeing young prospect, Rumarn Burrell, leave to Middlesbrough.
The Mariners have also been linked with a move to sign both Lee Angol and James Hanson who are known to be available with the later having already had talks with the club.
