Grimsby Town are looking at signing former Lincoln defender Sam Habergham who is on trial with the League Two club.
The left-back is hoping to kick start his career after a serious knee injury left him without a side and looking at early retirement from the game.
Habergham came through the ranks at Norwich City before moving on to Tamworth and then enjoying an excellent four-year stint with Braintree.
Danny Cowley would bring the player with him to Sincil Bank and he went on to win promotion with the Imps in this first season at the club.
He played 33 times for Lincoln in League Two but his career took an unfortunate turn due to a serious knee injury which would later require surgery. He was released by the club in the summer of 2019 having not managed a single appearance during the 2018-19 campaign.
As reported by Lincolnshire Live, the player is currently on trial with the Mariners and will be hoping he can earn a deal with the League Two strugglers.
Paul Hurst has recently returned to Grimbsy following spells at Shrewsbury, Ipswich and Scunthorpe. He has been left with a big job to do following a poor start to the season which saw Ian Holloway resign from the post.
Habergham, 28, would certainly add some experience to the side who only have Danny Preston available to play left-back. The Nottingham Forest man is currently on loan at Blundell Park but D3D4 understands there could be interest in the player from elsewhere which may lead to him moving on this January.
