Gillingham are lining up a move to sign former Ipswich midfielder Alan Judge but face competition, according to reports
The Gills already missed out on signing Luke Chambers, who has agreed a deal to join League Two Colchester and the Essex club could scupper their latest attempt to sign a former Tractor Boy.
Alan Judge was released by Paul Cook this summer and his departure will have come as no surprise with the new boss at Portman Road looking to rebuild a side capable of mounting a promotion push.
Judge, 32, is still highly thought of by a number of clubs in League One and, according to EADT, Gillingham are hoping to lure the Irishman to Priestfield this summer.
They do face competition from Colchester United who have already agreed a deal with Cole Skuse and Luke Chambers and the U’s are looking to add another two former Ipswich men to their ranks.
Alan Judge and Emyr Huws could also be heading to Essex as Colchester look to put an awful campaign behind them. Judge may be tempted to stay in League One after making 34 league appearance last season, scoring four times.
The Gills have already lost key players Jack Bonham, Jordan Graham and Connor Ogilvie this summer after the trio rejected new deals and star midfielder Kyle Dempsey has been linked with numerous Championship clubs.
