Sheffield Wednesday are making a splash in the League One transfer market and could be set to add another player this week with out-of-contract Ben Purrington linked with the Owls.
The 26-year-old defender is out of contract this summer and will leave Charlton Athletic. The full-back is attracting interest from elsewhere but with Darren Moore’s side desperate to recruit someone who can play down the left, Hillsborough could be the ideal destination.
Purrington made 31 appearances in all competitions last season netting four goals and notching three assists. His only real competition in the current Wednesday squad would be Marvin Johnson after the departure of Olomide Shodipo and Nathaniel Mendez-Liang.
According to Ian Baker, the Owls are one of three teams chasing the left-back with both Ross County and fellow League One outfit, Exeter City, the other.

The Grecians are one of only a handful of sides in the third tier yet to sign a player with Matt Taylor hoping to strengthen his newly promoted team.
Darren Moore has been busy improving his play-off semi-finalists this summer adding Rotherham duo Michael Ihiekwe and Michael Smith earlier this week.
They also brought in ex-Millers midfielder Will Vaulks from Cardiff, a player who has won promotion from League One previously. The other two players to sign are former AFC Wimbledon defender Ben Heneghan and experienced stopper David Stockdale from Wycombe.
