We asked a fan of each team give us their thoughts on the 2018-19 season. Have a read of their responses and enjoy!
1.In your opinion, how did 2018-19 go for your side?
Off our abysmal 2017/18 campaign, getting playoffs was an amazing achievement and mark cooper has done very well to get this club in this position Our performance in the playoffs was disappointing but I’m happy we got here in the first place.
2.What was your favourite moment in 2018-19?
My favourite moment of the season is our 1-0 win over Tranmere in mid-April which gave us real momentum going into the final three games of the season. Our 4-1 win against new port at Christmas was another real highlight.
3.What was your worst moment in 2018-19?
Our worst moment was our 3-0 away loss to Morecambe in March. A really poor performance where our biggest issues of the season really came to the fore (ridiculous mistakes and an inability to take our chances).
4.Which player impressed you the most on your team?
Our best player of the season was without a doubt Reece Brown. He didn’t show how good he is last season and got on the wrong end of the fans favour but he’s really turned it around and become one of the best midfielders in the league. Some of the assists and key passes he’s provided this season has been sublime and has really allowed us to play the passing football Mark Cooper wants.
5.Which opposition player made the biggest impression?
The big man upfront for Lincoln, John Akinde, impressed me greatly this season. He leads the line really well and was an ever present danger against us when we played them. As well as this he scored two important goals for Lincoln against us in both of their 2-1 wins.
6.What are your hopes for 2019-20?
We have to be fighting for automatic promotion next season if the club is as ambitious as it says it is. However, it’s gonna be a really tough campaign with some big teams coming down from League One who’ll be looking to bounce straight back up and if we don’t cut out the issues from this season it will most likely be another play-off appearance.
7.Which area of the team needs most improvement for next season?
With Reece Brown looking like he’s headed out the biggest issue is finding another player who can provide the assists that he does. After that, with Campbell being released and Reid placed on the transfer list we’ll need to get another striker in as McCoulsky hasn’t cut it after joining from Bristol City in January.
