Fleetwood Town are set to sign former Hull City left-back Max Clark, according to latest reports.

The defender left Hull in May and looks set to sign for Simon Grayson’s sign ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.

Clark joined the Tigers on a short-term deal in January after playing for two-and-a-half years in the Dutch Eredivisie with Vitesse Arnhem where he made 46 league appearances, scoring twice.

The 25-year-old also played in Europe for the Vitas, making his debut in their 1-0 defeat against Basel in the Europa back in 2018, and according to Alan Nixon, he is set to sign for League One Fleetwood this summer.

Clark started his career at his hometown club Hull City, making his debut for them in the Championship against Aston Villa in 2017.

He made to loan spell to Cambridge United in order to build up his first-team experience, first arriving at the Abbey Stadium in January 2016 before extending his stay into the next season.

In total, he made 36 appearances in League Two for the U’s before returning to Hull only to reject a new deal with the Tigers in order to move to the Netherlands.

Vitesse had to pay compensation, reportedly in the region of £400,000, to bring Clark to the Eredivisie and he could prove a decent signing at Highbury.

Fleetwood have already brought in Brad Halliday from Doncaster, Harry Wright from Ipswich, Tom Clarke from Salford and Ryan Edmundson on loan from Leeds, this summer as they look to improve on a 15th place finish in 2020/21.
