Lincoln City defender Regan Poole is subject to interest from clubs in the Championship, D3D4 Football understands.
The 24-year-old is entering into the final year of his contract at Sincil Bank and is hoping a move to a club in the division above can be agreed, with Sunderland and Blackpool linked to the player in the past.
Poole joined Lincoln from MK Dons for a fee thought to be in the region of £75,000 and has become an important player for the League One side.
Sunderland made an offer to sign the defender last summer with the fee of £500k upfront and a further £250k in add-ons, but the Imps rejected the bid, valuing the player in the seven-figure range, D3D4 understands.
As things stand, Poole does not intend to sign a new deal with the club and will walk as a free agent next summer. This may be of interest to both Blackpool and Ipswich Town who both registered interest in the player previously only to be put off by the value Lincoln had placed on the player.
With the Cardiff-born defender entering into the final 12 months of his current deal, this will be the last chance the Imps have to get a fee for the player.
It remains to be seen whether the League One side will receive an offer that is acceptable to the club, but if not they risk losing the player for nothing at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Lincoln kick-off their campaign at home to newly-promoted Exeter on 30 July.
