Both Burton Albion and Bradford City are chasing versatile midfield dynamo Danny Lloyd, D3D4 Football understands.

The 29-year-old enjoyed an outstanding season at Tranmere after joining them on a short-term deal in November and his efforts have caught the eye of several clubs in League One and Two.

Lloyd arrived at Prenton Park on a temporary deal but soon earned an extension until the end of the 2020/21 campaign thanks to his energetic displays for the Super White Army.

His arrival coincided with a great run of form that pushed Rovers up the table with just five defeats in 26 league matches which included a run of five straight wins and seven games unbeaten in January.

In only 22 starts, the former Salford man directly contributed to 12 goals netting seven and assisting five others while also creating 20 chances. His dynamic performances won the plaudits of many supporters, leading the press with energy, making 66 interceptions and winning 115 second-balls.

D3D4 understands from sources close to the Brewers that the League One club are considering a move for the Liverpool-born midfielder who can play anywhere across the frontline including on either flank or as a number 10.

He has proven himself in League One when at Peterborough. During his time at London Road, Lloyd netted 13 times in only 25 starts and also bagged five assists.

Burton are not the only side interested in the forward. His performance at Valley Parade last season, where Lloyd assisted the only goal of the game after chasing down a lost ball and crossing for the winner, also impressed the Bantams hierarchy.

There will be competition for the 29-year-old, however, with at least two sides in League One and another two in League Two also showing an interest.
