Colchester United defender Frankie Kent admits that every point is crucial as the U’s prepare to host MK Dons this weekend.

The central defender was left frustrated with the Easter Monday draw at Huish Park and viewed it as ‘a missed opportunity’ as other results went their way.

The game hinged on a needless red card for Colchester goalkeeper Dillon Barnes who was dismissed for kicking out at a Yeovil player following the first goal but Tom Eastman rescued what could be a vital point for John McGreal’s men in the second half.

With games running out, Frankie Kent believes, that point could be crucial if the U’s are to make the play-offs.

“Everything is going to have to go our way but the way the season has gone and the run of form and everything, the way that we’re still involved is mental,” he told the Gazette.

“We just want to keep positive and every point is crucial.

“We wanted six points out of six over Easter and that would have been brilliant but we’ll go again.

“We want the fans to get right behind us – any little percentage that they can give us can help us massively.”

MK Dons are sitting fourth after a 1-1 draw at home to Port Vale on Easter Monday that left Paul Tisdale’s side outside the top three on goal difference.

Exeter host Oldham this weekend after failing to cement the spot as their own following a home defeat to Crawley and a draw at Stevenage over the Easter weekend.

Those results leave the Grecians just two points ahead of the chasing pack which includes four sides (Colchester, Carlisle, Newport & Stevenage) on 64 points with Oldham on 62 having played a game less than the Devon club.
