Doncaster Rovers are set to be without the services of Alex Kiwomya for some time after the forward damaged ankle ligaments.
The former Chelsea academy player has only featured once for Donny this season and is not seen as a key man but having depth options can be important at this time of year.
The 23-year-old is not currently close to a return, Darren Moore confirmed earlier today but there is hope that Niall Ennis will return to action sooner than expected.
Kiwomya suffered the injury in training and, although no specific timeframe was put upon his recovery, it does appear he will be out for a considerable amount of time.
There was some good news as Donny’s other pacey forward, Wolves loanee Niall Ennis, is back in training with his parent club following a hamstring strain.
Ennis has not appeared for the club since limping out of their EFL Trophy match against Manchester United under-21s a month ago but the Doncaster manager is willing to give the player time to return to full-fitness.
“He’s out running and just building up his volume in training,” Moore said.
“With the hamstring you’ve just got to build up the strength in training but I’m pleased to say the news coming back is that he’s getting stronger and doing more each day.
“We’re hopeful to hear more by the end of the week in terms of a timescale for him.”
“The main thing for Niall is to be ready for when he comes back that he’s ready to stay back.
“If it takes an extra week or ten days, we’ll take it because we need him for that busy December period and as many bodies as possible.”
Doncaster are currently sat safely in mid-table and play MK Dons at home on 07 December following their FA Cup clash with Gillingham this weekend and the mid-week game against Leicester City under-21s in the EFL Trophy.
