D3D4 Luton Town Correspondent Richard Armstrong looks at how his beloved Hatters have started to hit some form in League Two…
So what a few weeks it’s been as a Luton supporter, since the Swindon shambles (not helped by the Cuthbert sending off) we have won 5/6 and the one we didn’t win was at Morecambe where we just couldn’t put the ball in the net.
Now why has this happened? Well we’re not playing the dreaded diamond anymore. With the recent injuries/suspensions to McCormack, Shinnie, Berry and Ruddock he’s adjusted the system and is now playing a 4-3-3 with Cornick behind Hylton and Collins. Cornick has been fantastic, offering some pace up top which was needed after we sold Vassell to Birmingham. Gambin came in for Berry and was providing some crosses which ya Luton fans have been screaming out for. We’re now scoring from crosses which will happen when you put the ball into the box especially with Hylton and Collins up top.

Stech has 6 clean sheets already!
In defence were suddenly rock solid, only two goals conceded in the last 6. Stech now has 6 clean sheets this season so in 50% of the games in the league we haven’t conceded. This was our downfall last season but the Stech signing along with a solid back up in Shea is as vital as the Collins signing.
Stacey is still keeping Justin out although we may see Justin this week as Potts is suspended thanks to the blatant cheating at Accrington, but that’s the strength of this squad. Justin and Senior are more than adequate replacements.
The ‘Big Month’ continues with Stevenage coming to town on Saturday followed by a trip to Exeter on the Tuesday with Crawley away on the 21st and then Coventry at home on the 28th. I wanted 10 points from this month and we have three ticked off that list already after that win at Accrington.
Has Jones finally stumbled on the winning formation? We’re starting to put teams away early, Hylton and Collins have 12 between them already and we’re not conceding, is this the year??
