Derby County are taking a look at former Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith, according to reports.
The Owls stopper is on trial with the Rams with a potential move to Pride Park in the offing for the 26-year-old.
Derby are looking to make progress in their squad preparation for the 2022/23 season after it was confirmed that local businessman David Clowes had his takeover of the club completed successfully.
The Rams need to ramp up recruitment fairly quickly with the new season starting at the end of this month and according to Alan Nixon, they are looking at signing goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith after taking the player on trial.
The keeper had been offered new terms at Hillsborough but with the arrival of David Stockdale, the player is hoping to find first-team football elsewhere and is now a free agent.
Both Kelle Roos and Ryan Allsop have left Pride Park this summer so the club are in desperate need of a new goalkeeper and Wildsmith will be hoping he can impress and earn a contract with the League One outfit.
Derby fans will be elated that they have a club to support this season after several takeover bids fell through but with that now sorted they can start to look forward to the new campaign with a bit of hope.
They host Oxford United on 30 July to kick-start their season and will be looking to get the squad sorted and signed up well before that date with Liam Rosenior the current interim manager.
