Derby County are considering a move to sign Sheffield Wednesday striker Lee Gregory, according to reports in the press.

The Rams have struggled to find the net in their opening six matches, scoring just five times so far this season prompting discussion about adding another attacker.

Derby held interest in the player earlier in the window and now appear to be revisiting the idea, according to a report in The Star.

The player had 16 goals and six assists last season as Sheffield Wednesday made it to the League One play-offs and he opened his account for the current campaign at the weekend in the Owls’ 5-0 demolition of Forest Green.

The 34-year-old was on loan at Pride Park in 2020/21 where he netted three times in 11 league games. Whether a fee can be agreed to seal his return, remains to be seen.

Both Sheffield Wednesday and Derby have made a good start to the new season with the Rams currently sitting just two points behind the Owls in the League One table.

Darren Moore’s side have won four and drawn one of their opening six matches with the only defeat coming against Peterborough at London Road.

Derby’s only defeat came against Charlton but their lack of goals is something Liam Rosenior wants to address before the transfer window closes on Thursday.
