Crewe Alexandra are not willing to budge as they remain determined to keep hold of captain Perry Ng despite interest from Cardiff City.
The full-back is out of contract this summer, but the League One club are prepared to risk losing him for free this summer rather than accept offers far below his true value.
Ng has been with The Railwaymen since he was nine years old and worked his way through their famous youth system before making his debut in 2015. He has since made 183 first-team appearances for the Cheshire side.
In doing so, he has become one of the best right-backs in the lower leagues and captained the team to promotion last year.
Neil Harris is determined to bring the 24-year-old to Cardiff but, according to Football Insider, Crewe have rejected a bid worth £250,000 for their captain.
Ng won Crewe’s Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year last season and is a key player this year despite missing the last few games due to a six-match suspension following an incident at the end of Crewe’s FA Cup defeat at Cheltenham.
David Artell has already batted away a bid for Harry Pickering as interest in the club’s talented youngsters intensifies.
Crewe are shady zebras in League One this season and are currently sitting in 9th place, just two points outside the play-off places.
