We asked a fan of each team give us their thoughts on the 2018-19 season. Have a read of their responses and enjoy!
How did the 18-19 season go for your side?
Good season for the Alex, progress has been made from previous seasons we have been looking up rather than down which is a refreshing change. Our home form has been one of if not the best in the division which gave us hope of a late playoff push but ultimately our poor away form let us down… but all in all a solid mid table finish for the Alex.
What was your favourite moment in 18-19?
There are three matches that stick in my mind!
The opening day 6-0 thrashing of Morecambe, The 6-1 demolition of Crawley back in March where we blitzed the Crawley defence by scoring 4 goals in 10 minutes. But my favourite was the last home game of the season against FGR and the 4-3 dramatic win, we were 3-1 down but Charlie Kirk bagged 2 goals in 2 minutes and caused absolute pure elation with his outrageous second goal to win the game.
What was your worst moment in 18-19?
Can I just say our away form? The 6-0 humiliation away at Colchester is certainly up there, but for me it was the 1-0 derby day defeat away at Port Vale it was a woeful performance from The Alex we didn’t test the Vale at all that day, to add to this i’m pretty certain that result kept Vale out of relegation trouble!
Which player impressed you the most on your team?
I Don’t think this will come as a surprise to anyone but Perry NG has been immense this season at right back. He bagged the supporters player & players player awards at the Crewealex end of season awards which is fully deserved. He has also featured a lot in the D3D4 team of the week throughout the season as well as the league 2 D3D4 team of the year. He’s a great talent and will certainly be playing at a higher level next season, I just hope we get a substantial fee for him. Special mentions also for Chris Porter, Ryan Wintle, Charlie Kirk & Eddie Nolan.
Which opposition player made the biggest impression?
James Norwood stood out for me, scored 2 really impressive goals against the Alex this season & never gave our defenders a minute, his goal scoring record says it all and any team would happily have him leading the line for him, if Tranmere don’t go up through the playoffs I think alot of clubs will be making bids for him in higher divisions. Special mentions also for Danny Mayor, Reece Brown & Mal Benning.
What are your hopes for 19-20?
To build on the progress of this season and make a real challenge for the playoffs next season.
Which area of the team needs most improvement for next season?
We will certainty need a new RB for when NG leaves! Beyond Chris Porter we are very light in the striker department, i would also add a winger with blistering pace and add some experience in the GK position. That said we always have the academy talent coming through who could step up next season!
