Crawley Town are set to sign 22-year-old defender Tobi Omole from Tottenham Hotspur after the player chose to reject a new deal with the Premier League club.

Spurs were keen to keep the player but he instead elected to join the League Two side after liking the project presented to him by the new owners.

The centre-back has spent the last two seasons at Tottenham following a controversial move from North London rivals Arsenal but, despite featuring in a couple of squads, has yet to make a Premier League appearance.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the player had plenty of offers from other clubs but was enticed by the vision put to him by Crawley Town’s new owners.

The Italian journalist went on to confirm the 6ft 1″ player has signed a contract with the West Sussex outfit until the summer of 2024.

Crawley are heading in a new direction this season with manager Kevin Betsy looking to reshape his squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Several new players have joined the squad including the marquee signing of last season’s League Two top scorer Dom Telford who netted 26 goals in 40 matches in all competition for Newport last season.

Other new additions include Travis Johnson from Crewe, Dion Conroy from Swindon and James Balagizi on loan from Liverpool.
