Phil Slatter, D3D4 Wycombe Correspondent & Columnist
A Wycombe Wanderers fan of over 25 years, I have written for Shoot magazine, the Wycombe Wanderers matchday programme and official website, The Wanderer Fanzine and presented The Wanderer Podcast as well as being joint-chair of Wycombe Wanderers Independent Supporters Club. Married with two children, I am also a writer for Frightfest and The (Film) Fan Carpet, as well as being a director of Outward Film Network which aims to promote low budget filmmaking. I also love to run, read and cycle when I can.
1.Team Supported: Wycombe Wanderers
2.First Match Attended & the Year: Wycombe 1 Witton Albion 2 – F.A. Trophy quarter-final, March 1992.
3.Most Memorable Match: Wimbledon 2 Wycombe 2 AET (Wycombe won 8-7 on penalties) – F.A. Cup fifth round replay, Selhurst Park, February 2001. Wycombe had a 0man sent off, Wimbledon had a 90th minute penalty saved, Wycombe equalised in the 120thminute…and that’s just part of the story.
4.Your favourite player of all time: Steve Guppy (Wycombe Wanderers). As a kid, he was my favourite to watch and the first WWFC player to go on to play for England.
5.Things you like least about modern football: The lack of accountability. In particular people blaming referees (who shockingly, don’t get as much wrong as some think) or the other teams tactics. If the opposition outscores you, they deserve to win, don’t moan about how they did it, that’s the aim of the game.
6.Favourite flavour crisps: Barbecue. Pringles in particular.
