Colchester United have agreed a two-year deal with former Ipswich captain Luke Chambers and are close to sealing another two transfers, according to reports.

Chambers has agreed to join the U’s despite having interest from League One side Gillingham and the Essex club could be close to landing another two players.

The 35-year-old was released by Paul Cook this summer and Colchester were quick to agree a deal with the leader, something they felt was lacking as they battled to avoid relegation last season.

According to the EADT, another two former-Ipswich men are also close to agreeing a move to the Essex club.

Both Alan Judge and Emyr Huws are wanted by the U’s and are in discussions over personal terms. This would see the League Two side add to their former Tractor Boy contingent which already consists of Dean Gerken and Cole Skuse.

Judge played 34 times in League One last season scoring four while Welsh international, Huws, featured in just nine league outings netting once.

The 27-year-old has 11 caps with his national side but is not part of the squad heading to the Euros this summer.
