Newly promoted Cheltenham Town are reportedly lining up an approach for Exeter City striker Ryan Bowman, according to reports.

Michael Duff is known to be a keen admirer of the 29-year-old and was linked to the attacker last January, although a deal was not thought to be close.

With the Robins now set to play in League One next season, the club are expected to try and sign Bowman this summer, according to Gloucestershire Live.

Exeter failed to reach the play-offs this season after suffering the disappointment of losing in the final in 2019/20. Despite Bowman having another year to run on his current deal, it is thought Cheltenham are hopeful a deal can be reached with the Grecians to bring the striker to Whaddon Road.

The former Motherwell man netted 14 goals in League Two during 2020/21 and has hit the net 34 times since signing for the club in January 2019.

Cheltenham already have Andy Williams, Alfie May and George Lloyd signed up for next season but the 6ft 2″ Bowman would add a different option for Michael Duff as he looks to prepare his side for third-tier football for the first time since 2008/09.

The Robins will be going up as champions after finishing top of League Two finishing on 82 points, two more than second place Cambridge United.

They are set to enjoy matches against the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich Town, Sunderland, Portsmouth and Charlton Athletic while also facing Bolton Wanderers for the second season in a row after the Trotters secured promotion on the final day.
