Charlton fans are not convinced by the latest rumours about a club takeover being imminent following recent reports in the mainstream press.

According to BT Sports the Addicks could be welcoming new owners sooner than expected with a price reportedly agreed and due diligence now taking place.

Charlton supporters, however, remain unconvinced given that the reports of a takeover are coming from Lieven De Turck – a group owned by the clubs current chairman Roland Duchatelet.

LDT have also suggested that two more parties, one an Australian consortium and the other from Britain, are in negations to purchase the League One outfit.

Earlier this season Duchatelet suggested that the EFL should buy the club and rent back the stadium and training ground from him – an idea clearly as deluded as eating spaghetti with a plastic spoon.

The idea was outright rejected by the EFL citing regulations over duel interest and Charlton fans knew the proposal was ‘unworkable’.

Despite the off field uncertainty Lee Bowyer has done a fantastic job leading Charlton to the play-offs whilst also having to deal with the sale of his top scorer, Karlan Grant, during the January transfer window.

Lee Bowyer revealed he had no new information about a takeover and admitted he wouldn’t let it worry him: “I’ve not heard back since the last time so there’s nothing to report.

“It is what it is. I can’t control it. I think everybody knows me now, if it’s something I can’t control then it doesn’t really affect me that much because there’s no point worrying about it.

“Like I said, I’m sure that he will come back to me with something and then we’ll go from there.”
