Charlton Athletic have sealed a deal to sign former Swindon and Bradford midfielder Jack Payne, D3D4 Football understands.
The 27-year-old has agreed terms with the London club and will be announced either later today or tomorrow.
Payne has chosen to sign with former Swindon boss Ben Garner despite having offers from other clubs including Portsmouth, Sheffield Wednesday and interest from elsewhere.
The 27-year-old was excellent under Garner last season at Swindon last season, helping the Robins make the play-offs despite a chaotic summer.
He will link up with former teammates Mandela Egbo and Jojo Wollacott who agreed a move to South London earlier this summer.
During his time at the County Ground, Payne scored 18 goals and had 13 assists in 88 matches and should be a creatie force for the Addicks in League One.
They kick start their campaign with a trip to Lancashire where they will take on Accrington Stanley on 30 July.
