Charlton Athletic are close to sealing the signing of Jayden Stockley on loan from Preston until the end of the season, according to reports.
The former Exeter striker is looking for some regular game time and has been subject to much interest including the likes of Sunderland and Bristol Rovers.
The 27-year-old appears set to land at the Valley after turning down the chance to join his former boss Paul Tisdale at the Memorial Stadium.
According to Bristol Live, the striker has chosen to join Lee Bowyer’s men on loan until the end of the season after agreeing a move to the London club.
Stockley scored 40 goals in 75 appearances while with Exeter and has netted nine in 69 since joining Preston but with opportunities limited at Deepdale, the former Aberdeen man is set to drop down to League One with the Addicks.
Charlton have struggled of late, winning just once in their last seven matches but they are looking to add to the squad this January and have already brought in Ronnie Schwarz from FC Midtjylland and Liam Millar on loan from Liverpool.
The club sold Alfie Doughty to Stoke City earlier today which could free up some funds to allow Bowyer to strengthen his side as we head into the second half of the season.
Charlton host relegation-threatened Swindon Town at the weekend and will be hoping to improve their recent run of results against John Sheridan’s struggling side.
