Bristol City striker Mo Eisa is thought to still be very much the focus of a host of League One clubs.
The former Cheltenham Town hotshot has been restricted to just five appearances in the Championship for the Robins this season but could still be sent out on loan before the January transfer window closes.
Lee Johnson believes it would be a benefit to the player who has made the jump from non-league football to the second tier in under two years.
Although no decision has yet been made Johnson did admit earlier this month that the club had a number of offers on the table.
“We’ve had a number of offers for Mo Eisa. I think it would be fantastic for Mo to make another little step before he is ready to be an absolute regular starter,” he told the Bristol Post
“He’s jumped up six leagues in 18 months and done very well. He’s looking very good in training.”
“You know what I’m like: when we’ve signed these young players who haven’t had this exposure I like to let them have a look at it for a while.”

Many fans believe that Eisa should be given more game time at Ashton Gate but Johnson thinks it is better for both the player and club to bed them in more slowly.
“I know sometimes that it frustrates the fans but what it allows is that when they come into it they come into it properly and they understand the systems. It is intricate the way that we play and what we demand of the players and you have to have that grounding.
“Often that takes six or seven months. Niclas Eliasson is a good example of that. But Mo Eisa is very hungry to play and hungry to score goals.”
The striker, who broke Cheltenham Town’s single-season scoring record last season when he netted 25 goals in all competitions, could still stay and fight for a place in the team.
The 24-year-old will be given the choice as Lee Johnson went on to explain.
“And I’m not saying for definite but there has been interest and I’ll sit down with Mo in the next 5-10 days and discuss the various options, including staying in and fighting for his place.”
Portsmouth were considered one of the favourites to sign Eisa but Kenny Jackett recently ruled Pompey out of the running. When asked if signing Eisa was something he was considering he replied: “No it’s not. It’s not a consideration.”
Which club would most suit Mo Eisa?
There are several clubs in League One looking to get more firepower during the window and Eisa would be seen by many as an ideal target.
Sunderland is one of the most obvious choices as the Black Cats look set to lose Josh Maja to French side Bordeaux. They have already been linked with a move for Barnsley’s Kieffer Moore, Reading’s Marc McNulty and Wigan’s Will Grigg but Eisa should be another name on their list.
The 24-year-old would be available on loan and Lee Johnson might like to see how the player performs in front of a big crowd with high expectation levels.

Another side that could desperately do with an upgrade at striker is a side a lot closer to home. In fact, they are about as close as you can get. Bristol Rovers may not get on well with their neighbours but a move for Eisa could be mutually beneficial.
The striker wouldn’t have to move, he could be watched closely by his parent club and he would likely be given plenty of minutes to get match fit. Perhaps this is not a realistic solution but the Gas board should at least look at this option.
Oxford United would also be a good fit for Eisa. Karl Robinson is scouting far and wide to find a forward to help his side’s relegation battle and the former Cheltenham striker would be an ideal candidate.
He would be in a side that creates chances with players like Marcus Browne, Gavin Whyte and James Henry in support and he would certainly be given plenty of minutes as Oxford have only one fit striker in their ranks.
Charlton Athletic may soon be without hotshot Karlan Grant with Huddersfield Town strongly linked to sign the 21-year-old. Eisa would be a ready-made replacement.
Similar in stature and likely to partner the more physical Lyle Taylor up top, Eisa could well thrive under Lee Bowyer’s expansive style.
