Burton Albion are on the verge of signing Australian midfielder Ryan Edwards from Hearts.
The 25-year-old is expected to sign for the Derbyshire outfit in the coming days as Nigel Clough starts to strengthen his depleted Brewers.
The Burton manager has seen Jamie Allen, Kyle McFadzean and Marcus Harness leave this summer and needs to react quickly with the season closing in fast.
Edwards, who netted in the Scottish Cup final, had a difficult season at Tynecastle. The Australian was on loan at St Mirren but returned to the Edinburgh side in January only to feature mostly for the reserves.
He is looking for a new start and is expected to join up with Burton in the coming days, according to reports.
Edwards started his career at Reading but only made 10 first team appearances for the Royals before moving to Partick Thistle.
He made over 100 appearances for the Jags but, following their relegation in 2018, moved to Hearts. The midfielder would add some much needed depth at the Pirelli Stadium who have seen some talented players head through the exit doors this summer.
Edwards would be the Brewers fourth summer signing following the additions of John Joe O’Toole, Richard Nartey, Jevan Anderson and Kieran O’Hara.
