Out of contract Rotherham striker David Ball is attracting interest from several League One sides, as Blackpool lead the race for his signature.

The 29 year old striker was released by the Millers following their relegation from the Championship. He spent much of last season on loan at Bradford City, but his attacking capabilities weren’t enough to prevent the Bantams’ drop into League Two.

The Blackpool Gazette reports that several clubs are interested in Ball; including Lincoln City, Ipswich Town, Tranmere Rovers and Sunderland. However, it is Blackpool that are leading the race for his signature.

It has also been reported that Port Vale are interested in the striker, as well as Walsall and Wimbledon. Vale are keen on finding support for Tom Pope, as they are keen to avoid the relegation concerns they had in 2018-19; the Valiants scored just 39 goals last season, League Two’s lowest tally.

Ball has played for a number of clubs and has averaged one goal every four to five games in a career that has seen him play mostly League One and Two football. Whilst he is not the most prolific striker, he is an intelligent footballer whose experience will be invaluable to whoever signs him.

Blackpool are also set to announce the signing of Jamie Devitt according to journalist Alan Nixon. The former Carlisle ace is out of contract and has attracted the attention of several teams but it now appears he will be wearing tangerine next season in League One.
